THE REAL McCOY

Rhodesians Worldwide is a contact magazine produced by Rhodesians for Rhodesians. It is found in 60 countries and is even shipped into Zimbabwe now. This magazine has been an important part of keeping the Rhodesian community, now scattered all across the world, connected.

Rhodesians Worldwide was started 15 years ago by Geoff Hill in Australia as a very simple magazine of a few pages of contact information for Rhodesians as they settled into their new homes. Geoff ran the magazine for a few years until he passed it on to Peter and Julia Hagelthorne of the United Kingdom. Peter and Julia have run the magazine for the past 12 years and have given unceaselessly to it and to Rhodesians in all walks of life. During their editorship of Rhodesians Worldwide it has grow both in size and in number of subscribers, but as popular as the magazine is, it is read by about 60,000 people yet only 3-4% of those who read it subscribe. Peter and Julia made the difficult decision to pass along the magazine about a year ago. They wanted more time to devote to their family and to themselves, having kept up a merciless pace for twelve years. In January 1999 Chris and Annette Whitehead will officially become the editors of the printed copy of Rhodesians Worldwide. The magazine has done a full circle, from being published by a former SB officer who spent a good deal of time in Mount Darwin to Chris who grew up in Mount Darwin.

Rhodesians Worldwide is a wonderful source of interesting and mostly unpublished stories which focus on all aspects of Rhodesian life from the earliest days of our country. There are sections featuring Zimbabwe News, a section for messages to other Rhodesians and a section featuring what Rhodesians are now doing in whatever country they find themselves. Each magazine has a feature story, often poems and many personal narratives about life in our adopted countries. A regular feature is the contact section in which people search for people. There is an classified section for those hard to find items and personal classifieds are free within reason. A number of Rhodesian related advertisers feature advertisements in each magazine. Births, deaths , engagements, marriages, in memoriums are placed in the magazine for free.

This magazine is for Rhodesians and about Rhodesians and we hope that you will consider becoming a subscriber and help us to improve communication between all people with an interest in Rhodesians, Zimbabweans and the future of our homeland. The magazine is published four times a year, deadlines for submissions are 30 days prior to the publication of the magazine. We ship the magazine bulk mail where possible, but it all goes via airmail. Advertising rates can be obtained from:
