A land I have never known

A deep yearning for a land I have never known
A magnificence beyond the bare eye
Littered with poverty
Plagued by death
Ignorant leaders refusing the
Truth
Devoted beings
Marching
Steadily
On
Eyes shut
Minds barred
They see it
But don’t
An Intense Burning
Sadness
Anger
Hatred
Fill hearts
Of many
But nothing will replace
The pure splendour
Of memories that
Burst from the souls of the
Countrymen
Flowing rivers of words
Poured from the lips of elders
To the keen minds
Of the eager young
That is all there is left of a once
Beautiful land
Many called Home
Words
Not even a mere shadow
Of its former self
The brilliance of the land
Ripped and torn by a
Pack of heartless dogs
The beauty remains
A dictator
Powerful yet
Pathetic
Letting all slip into depths of
Darkness
While he flounders in sunlight
Prosperous and happy days of yesteryear
Are stared at with
Disgust and jealousy
By blind dogs of the present
Judgemental hammers
Pound
Memories
Shifting blame
Propaganda being spat in
The faces and chiselled
Into uneducated minds
By biased sources – let the power
Live on
Help and honesty
Will it come
To start afresh
To patch up inconceivable damage
Beware
The man who dares defy the
Powerful
Beware the Powerful when you
Fall
With a sickening crack
Hard
On polluted gravel
Shout and scream about the
Cruelness and obscenities of forefathers
The land was scarred by you
Know that
In all minds the truth lurks, locked in many
Awaiting release
Beat the past as desired
It will
Never
Erase the feelings of
Pure
Undying
Love
That swells in every countryman
No matter where
Let the bells of fraud ring
Your judgement will soon be up
Men plot
Dogs violate
Their time will come when the rock falls
Hard
Have fear
Fires of memories burn in
Heart
Mind and
Soul
Inextinguishable
However trodden
My being still
Pines
For a land
I
Have
Never
Known
