The Lover's Lament

Today was a hot and sorrowful tale
For I went to the Post Office to fetch my mail
But there wasn't even a creditor's bill
Or a word from my love, a bitter pill
But then I remembered she works all day
In a business which is supposed to pay
So the only time she has to write
Are the evening hours or early night
I 'll hear tomorrow or the very next day
For after six weeks she'll have much to say.
