A Rhodesian Garden

In our garden there always grew
Shrubs and trees Rhodesians knew
Pride of India, a bamboo so high
It's tasselled fronds seemed to touch the sky.
Bougainvillea of colours rare
Mixed with Yesterday and Tomorrows scented air
Jacarandas, a Flamboyant or two
Dressed in their spring or summer hue.

Pointsetties and Petria side by side
The loveliest background for a bride
A feast of colour in the springtime breeze
Crowned above by the Msasa trees
For of all the trees nature in colour has dressed
The giant Msasas are the most blesses.
